Playa Bowls Cafe — Custom Surfboard Tables (New York City & Lawrence, NY)
The Project
The Vision: Playa Bowls, the renowned nationwide coastal acai cafe franchise, sought custom commercial lounge furniture for two of their high-profile New York locations — Midtown East (Manhattan, NYC) and Lawrence (Long Island, NY). The vision was to design statement cafe tables that reflect their authentic surf-shack roots, provide heavy-duty durability for bustling daily foot traffic, and create an irresistible, share-worthy photo moment for guests.
The Craft: Handycor custom-built a series of handcrafted surfboard-shaped cafe coffee tables. Each tabletop features weathered driftwood plank textures adorned with a luminous celestial mermaid tail motif. Finished with commercial-grade, multi-layer liquid-resistant protective resin, the tables incorporate custom location branding (“Playa Bowls Lawrence, NY — Follow & Tag Us! @PlayaBowlsLawrence”) and are paired with relaxed high-back rattan wicker seating.
The Result: A magnetic commercial seating centerpiece in both New York cafes. Customers constantly photograph their bowls, drinks, and pets around the tables, driving daily organic social media engagement and reinforcing the brand's breezy surf vibe in the heart of New York.
